The “Blah, Blah, Blah” Baseline

marketing mojo strategy May 14, 2026

Have you noticed that lately everything sounds the same? The posts, the emails, the “thought leadership”—it’s polished, it’s correct, and it’s completely forgettable. I’ve caught myself in it too, and it led me to a realization I wasn’t expecting.

“When did I become so BORING!

I’ve been translating myself into “acceptable business language,” and in the process, leaving behind the exact parts of me people could connect with—the tone, the quirks, the way I naturally think and speak. What’s left is something that sounds . . . fine. And that’s the problem.

For years, we’ve been taught to communicate this way. Professional, polished, buttoned up. It made sense when that was the standard. But now, AI can generate that version of you instantly. Which means that version isn’t your advantage anymore. If anything, it’s become the “blah, blah, blah” baseline.

What’s going to stand out now is the part that doesn’t get edited out. The slightly offbeat phrasing, the personality, the moments where you sound like an actual human instead of a refined version of one. That’s what people recognize.

That’s what people will remember.

The shift is happening. Have you all heard the latest buzz word “AI Slop”? – well that’s the new gauge, the new filter for your content – folks are tired of the “Slop” and will call it out. Consumers are looking for a real voice, real opinions, real and relatable personality. Not louder or more exaggerated, just more – YOU! Quirky, less filtered and waaaay more fun.

I know AI isn’t going away, it’s making life much easier for most of us, but one thing it can’t do is be you and it knows it!

Aileen: Hey Chat, do you have a personality?

Chat: Short answer? Not in the way you do.

I can simulate personality, but it’s always in service of the conversation. I don’t have quirks, opinions, or instincts that come from experience—I build them in real time based on context.

Which, interestingly, ties right into what you’ve been talking about…

• I can sound like a person.
• Only you sound like you.

And that difference? That’s exactly why your voice matters more right now, not less.

Stay curious, friends!
Aileen

P.S. Don’t be a victim of the “Blah, blah, blah’s”  – inject your personality and get back to YOU. Here are five simple ways to sound more like yourself when AI is in the mix.
