Standing There Beside Myself
Apr 14, 2026We’ve all been there—that frustrating place where decisions feel impossible, progress stalls, and you’re left spinning your wheels.
My sister and I call this feeling “standing there beside myself”—like watching yourself hesitate from the sidelines, unsure how to jump back into the game.
It’s not that you don’t know what needs to be done. It’s that you can’t seem to get out of your own way long enough to do it.
The internal dialogue kicks in:
Should I raise my rates?
Do I launch the new offer now or later?
What if I mess this up?
Suddenly, the simple act of deciding feels heavy.
The good news? This is normal. Everyone—no matter how experienced—hits this moment. The key is recognizing it for what it is—and not mistaking hesitation for a stop sign.
When you’re stuck, simplify the decision.
Not every choice needs a spreadsheet or deep analysis. Break it down, choose the next small step, and move. Action—even imperfect action—breaks the paralysis.
Perfection is usually part of the problem. The fear of making the wrong choice often leads to no choice at all. And in business, standing still is usually riskier than moving forward.
When everything starts to feel loaded, zoom out.
Reconnect with why you started—what you were trying to build and how you wanted it to feel. That shift alone can take a decision from pressure-filled to possibility-driven.
So, if you find yourself standing there beside yourself, unsure how to move forward, here’s the reminder:
Step back into the game.
Take the next step.
Trust yourself.
Because the hardest part isn’t making the decision—it’s believing you can handle whatever comes next.
And you can.
Stay curious, friends!
